A Vibrant October 31st Castle Celebration in County Louth
There is an undeniable magic to a late October wedding in Ireland. As the autumn countryside transforms into a tapestry of fiery ambers, deep maroons, and golden light, historic estates take on a cozy, enchanting character. Set within the rolling countryside of Readypenny, Co. Louth, the 15th-century Darver Castle provided a spectacular backdrop for Kim and Colin’s unforgettable October 31st celebration.
For Kim and Colin, Halloween was not about spooky traditions, but about celebrating warmth, togetherness, and rich seasonal color. At Flowers Touch, we created a bespoke floral concept steeped in vibrant autumn jewel tones—deep crimson, burnt orange, golden yellow, royal purple, and sapphire blue thistle.
A Palette of Rich Autumn Jewel Tones
Autumn weddings offer a wonderful canvas for bold, high-contrast colours. Rather than muted earthy tones, Kim and Colin chose a rich jewel-toned palette that felt opulent, joyful, and perfectly suited to a historic stone castle.
We blended velvety ruby-red roses, vibrant burnt-orange garden roses, and golden ranunculus with deep purple clematis, white lisianthus, and striking blue eryngium thistles. Silvery-green eucalyptus foliage and delicate astilbe added softness and movement, creating a floral story that felt as warm as a roaring castle fire.
Ethereal Bridal Party & Flower Girl Styling
The morning preparations at Darver Castle set a joyful tone for the day, with Kim wearing a gorgeous long-sleeved lace dress and a sparkling bridal headband.
Kim’s Bridal Bouquet
Kim carried a striking, hand-tied wild garden bouquet bursting with vibrant colour. Rich burgundy and orange roses stood out alongside blue thistles, deep purple clematis, and golden ranunculus. Sprays of silver dollar eucalyptus framed the arrangement, adding a fresh, natural feel.
Bridesmaids & Flower Girl Baskets
The bridesmaids carried matching jewel-toned bouquets that popped beautifully against their attire. For the littlest members of the bridal party, we crafted sweet wicker flower girl baskets lined with autumn foliage and delicate floral clusters for them to carry down the aisle.
Colin & The Groomsmen
Colin wore a sharp navy suit paired with a bespoke lapel boutonniere featuring a white spray rose, deep red accents, a mini blue thistle, and eucalyptus tied with rustic twine. His groomsmen wore matching navy attire with coordinating lapel pieces.
Rustic Ceremony Magic in Darver Castle
The ceremony took place inside Darver Castle’s cozy, rustic ceremony room, surrounded by dark wood-paneled walls, warm chandelier light, and twinkling fairy lights.
The Unity Candle Altar Table
Resting on an antique white ceremony table, a low autumn floral runner surrounded the central unity candles. As Kim and Colin exchanged their vows, warm candlelight illuminated deep red roses, orange blossoms, and lush greenery.
Foliage & Fairy Light Canopies
Overhead chandeliers were wrapped in cascading greenery, creating a romantic canopy above the aisle. Outside, an archway overflowing with fiery oak leaves and amber foliage created a stunning backdrop for Kim and Colin’s intimate outdoor portraits.
The Semi-Naked Autumn Wedding Cake
As celebrations moved into the grand reception hall, the floral themes flowed seamlessly into the evening decor.
Kim and Colin’s three-tiered semi-naked wedding cake served as a centerpiece in the room. Topped with a custom golden “C&K” monogram topper, each tier was decorated with clusters of ruby roses, peach garden roses, blue thistles, astilbe, and fresh eucalyptus, echoing the rich jewel tones of Kim’s bouquet.
